The New CareSync Pharmacy Discount Card

CareSync Pharmacy Card Helps Make Medications More Affordable

Introducing the CareSync pharmacy card, a new benefit you now receive as part of your CareSync membership! Your CareSync pharmacy card is ready to use and is honored at over 65,000 pharmacies nationwide.

How do I use this card?

If your prescription copay is more than $10, simply present the card to your pharmacist and ask, “What’s my discount drug card price?” It’s that easy. Many times, your discounted price will be less than your copay. Discounts may also apply to medications not covered by your prescription plan.

Do I have to pay for this card?

No. The pharmacy discount program is part of your benefits of being a CareSync member. We are always looking for ways to make healthcare easier for you. We know that one of the ways we can help is by saving you money on your medications and that is why we created this new program and benefit. We hope you enjoy the savings it can bring you.

What drugs does it work for and how much will I save?

CareSync worked with a major drug discount network to give you access to these savings. Because they provide discounts to millions of individuals nationwide, their ability to leverage the power of group purchasing allowed us to pass along significant discounts for our members. As a result, all FDA-approved brand name and generic prescription medications are covered by the CareSync pharmacy discount card at more than 65,000 participating pharmacies nationwide.

Although the best discounts were negotiated on your behalf with each pharmacy, the savings offered are not the same for every drug and not the same at every pharmacy. This is a DISCOUNT ONLY – NOT INSURANCE. Discounts are available exclusively through participating pharmacies. The range of the discounts will vary depending on the pharmacy chosen and the prescription filled.

Here are some tips to help you get the most out of this valuable service:

  • Especially for generic medications, the pricing that has been negotiated for you is typically less expensive than an insurance price or copay. This is particularly true for a generic drug where your copay is more than $10.
  • For brand name drugs, there may still be savings, but the savings are usually less.
  • If you have insurance, your insurance price or copay may be better than the discounts negotiated under this program. But the good news is, all you have to do is ask. Ask the pharmacist or the pharmacy technician to check what your price would be with the CareSync pharmacy discount card compared to what your price would be with your insurance. Then use whichever gives you the lower price.
  • If you do not have insurance, or if you have a high-deductible insurance plan, don’t have a prescription drug benefit, or simply need a prescription that isn’t covered by your insurance company’s prescription drug “formulary,” then you’ll find the discounted pricing from this program is very competitive and should save you money.
  • Prescription drug pricing can vary at different pharmacies for the exact same drug. To make sure you save the most money, check for pricing using the online drug pricing tool. Just enter your drug name, your dosage information, and your zip code. It will show you results for drug pricing at all the participating pharmacies near you so you can easily compare!

Which pharmacies accept the pharmacy card?

The CareSync pharmacy card is powered by a discount drug network that has made prescription drug pricing agreements with over 65,000 pharmacies throughout the U.S., including nearly all national and regional pharmacy chains and most independent pharmacies.

If your pharmacy does not participate, call us at 877-910-3274, or go online to search for local pharmacies that do. You will find that nearly all of your local pharmacies currently participate. Don’t let pharmacy loyalty cost you money! Be sure to shop around and use the online drug pricing tool to get the lowest price.

For expedited service, please be sure to call the pharmacy before your visit to ensure that they are participating in the program and that they have your medication in stock.

Can I use the CareSync pharmacy card for drugs that are excluded by my insurance company?

Yes! It is very common for some brands and classes of prescription drugs to be excluded from your insurance company’s drug “formulary.” Your card can be used to potentially save money on any FDA-approved drug.

Can this card help me find pricing for a generic equivalent to my prescription drug?

Yes! Because CareSync’s pharmacy discount program helps you get the best negotiated pharmacy pricing for all FDA-approved prescription drugs, looking up pricing for the generic equivalent for your brand name prescription is a really great idea!

Just use the online drug pricing tool. You will notice that in Step 4, when it shows the pricing for your drug at a local pharmacy, it will also display on the right-hand side “Lower Cost Drug Alternatives / Generic Equivalents.” This is a great time and money saver, so please make sure you use it! Of course, you can always call the number on the back of your pharmacy discount card and let us help you find the information you need.

Please note that some drugs may not have a generic alternative. You also may need to contact your physician to write a different prescription for the less costly generic medication.

What if the pharmacist is unfamiliar with my card?

Some pharmacists may not be familiar with the card even though their company is a participating pharmacy. If they are unfamiliar, ask them to enter the BIN and GROUP numbers on the front of your card into their computer as “secondary insurance.” This way, they can price the prescription with both your insurance card and the pharmacy discount card and you can choose the one that offers you the best price. The pharmacist can also call us at the number on the back of your card (877-910-3274) if he or she has any questions.

Who do I contact if I have trouble using my card?

Call the number on the back of your card (877-910-3274) for assistance. This phone number is specifically dedicated for calls concerning the CareSync pharmacy discount program.

Why do pharmacies negotiate these types of savings?

They want you to come to their store to fill a prescription because when you do, you typically buy personal care products and other miscellaneous items from their retail store. It’s good business for them and big savings for you.

Is this insurance?

No. Pharmacy discounts are not insurance and are not intended as a substitute for insurance. This is a discount program and the discount is only available at participating pharmacies.

Does my doctor need to know about the CareSync pharmacy card?

Your doctor may already know about the CareSync pharmacy discount program and that your CareSync pharmacy card can be presented at pharmacies to help you save money. But if you’re wondering whether your doctor needs to know about the pharmacy discount card when he or she writes your prescription, rest assured this isn’t necessary.

Your doctor will write your prescription like always, but when you bring your prescription to the pharmacy, be sure to present your card to the pharmacist or pharmacy technician. If you don’t have insurance, they will use the BIN and GROUP numbers on your card to look up your prescription pricing.

If you do have insurance, just ask them to run the CareSync pharmacy card through their system like “secondary insurance.” This allows them to check pricing for your prescription using both your insurance card AND the pharmacy discount card. You can then use whichever card gives you the lower price for the drug.

CareSync is available to help you 24/7/365.
